High-Protein CBD Recipes

Oh, protein, can we sufficiently sing the praises of you? Protein is essentially the only real difference between us and the primates because our big-browed ancestors decided that they were hungry and berries really weren’t doing the trick, so they started hunting and acquiring large quantities of protein that really put us over the edge — and the descendants of those clever hunters started getting larger amounts of grey matter in their skulls. That started human-kind’s centuries-long love affair with delicious hearty protein. It’s known for expanding your muscle growth, making your food last a little longer, and giving you more energy than the quick-to-digest, quick-to-forget carbs that we’re all so familiar with. 

Protein is basically the best thing since and before sliced bread, but when you start counting your macros, you may start to realize that you’re not getting nearly as much of it as you think you should be. Need a way to access quick, easy protein that can also maybe include your daily dosage of CBD oil without having to mix it into your coffee in the mornings or put it in your water cup at work? Bacon and Beans

Do you know what’s better than a plate of frank and beans? Probably bacon and beans. Don’t be fooled, it’s not just quick, it’s also somewhat better than plain frank and beans with bacon instead of sausage because it uses real spices. Within this recipe you’ll be able to access two forms of protein in both the beans and bacon which makes for a tasty and nutritious recipe.

Ingredients (Per Serving):

  • 6 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 3 cans of cannellini beans, rinsed
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon CBD oil of choice
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3 tablespoons whole-grain mustard
  • 3 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped

Instructions:

Start by cooking up the bacon separately in a skillet for around 12-15 minutes on medium until it’s good and crispy. Please note that if you chop the bacon up before you cook it, it will cook much faster than in individual rashers of bacon. Set the bacon aside to cool at room temp while you tend to the beans. Rinse the beans of their juices outside of the can and then use a large mixing bowl to toss together the beans with the vinegar, olive oil, CBD oil and mustard and then season the dish with a bit of salt and pepper. It’s best when set in the fridge to cool for some time and then tossed with freshly chopped chives and bacon after around 8 hours in the fridge. 

Steak With Tomatoes and Spicy Green Beans

Steak has to be one of the best ways to access your protein. It’s choc-full of the delicious nutrient and it’s also jammed pack with flavor that makes you drool. This dinner can actually be cooked in only 30 minutes and all on the stove top which makes it a great option when the winter months swing around and you don’t want to step outside to grill anything. All you’ll need to do is get out your favorite skillet and get ready for immediate satisfaction. 

Ingredients (Per Serving): 

  • 3 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoons CBD 
  • Salt and pepper
  • ½ cup of fresh oregano
  • ¼ cup basil
  • 1 pint grape tomatoes
  • ½ pound, 1 inch thick strip steak 

Instructions:

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet on medium heat and then season the steaks by rubbing them with a mixture of salt, pepper, CBD oil and basil. Cook the steaks to your preferred level of doneness (recommended rare to medium-rare). Let it rest and then slice finely. Turn your attention to the tomatoes and wipe out you skillet. Use olive oil to coat the pan and add the tomatoes, salt and pepper. Allow to cook for around 4-6 minutes while tossing the tomatoes around occasionally. Allow the tomatoes to blister and then pull out of the skillet and let cool for a few minutes before you mix in the oregano and rub it over the steaks and tomatoes together. 

Spanish Omelet

The Spanish, generally speaking, really know what they’re talking about when it comes to food. The best part about any omelette is how versatile it can be. You can take an omelette with the same ingredients, tweak it just a bit and suddenly it’s a breakfast omelette, revert it to the original setup and boom, it’s back to dinner options. Ingredients:

  • 3 ounces Chorizo
  • 1 pound red potatoes, diced
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 large yellow onion, chopped, 1 cup parsley, chopped
  • 1 small head green leaf lettuce
  • ½ red onion, thin slices
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar or hard cheese of choice
  • 10 eggs, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ½ CBD oil

Instructions:

Start by cooking the yellow onion in the pan on the oven for around 5 minutes then add your chorizo, potatoes, salt and pepper and cook for around 10 minutes together. Be sure to stir the ingredients occasionally. Next, stir in your parsley, eggs, and CBD oil. Allow to sit for a moment and then add your cheese and transfer the skillet into the over. Bake the omelet for around 15 minutes and then garnish the dish with the red onion and leaf lettuce and olive oil.
