Innovative Winter CBD Recipes
Due to limited government research, the FDA says we can’t “legally” sell you on the myriad benefits of CBD, but we can tell you how to access those benefits in a tastier fashion (i.e. using pure, all natural CBD oil and products in your cooking). We’ve collected the best CBD oil recipes from around the web to put them all in one place for your enjoyment. Buckle up, because we’re going to open your eyes to the possibilities of CBD like you’ve never thought of them before.
CBD Hot Chocolate
Feeling festive with the holidays or maybe you just need a chocolate pick-me-up? We’ve got you covered. In one shot, you can incorporate the body healing effects of our CBD oil with a serotonin boost from some melty warm chocolate.
Ingredients (For Per Cup Enjoyment, Double or Triple Recipe for Friends):
- 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder (we recommend Dutch-processed)
- 3 cups of whole milk (use half-and-half to make it extra creamy or vanilla soy milk to make it vegan/ lactose-intolerant friendly)
- 6 ounces of semisweet chocolate baking chips, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 1 drop of CBD tincture (Feel free to include your personal dosage needed)
Measure out ¾ cup of water and bring it to a simmer in a small pot on the stove, we recommend using medium-high heat. Use a whisk to incorporate the cocoa powder until there are no lumps. Add milk or half-and-half and return to simmer. Slowly whisk in chocolate and sugar. Whisk frequently until it starts to get creamier then drop the preferred amount of CBD oil into the mixture. Adding the CBD tincture at this time prevents the oil from altering the consistency of the drink. Top with optional whipped cream and sprinkle with extra cocoa powder for an added delicious garnish.
CBD Italian Christmas Cookies Recipe
If you’re looking for something a little healthier other than pure melted chocolate and cream, but still on the sweet side we’ve got something else for you. These cookies are festive, but they’re hardly red and green (unless you’re into using food coloring gratuitously). Additionally, they’re traditional Italian cookies with a recipe that can easily mask the potentially odd consistency of CBD oil that could, in other recipes, be more noticeable.
- 1 ½ cups unsalted butter
- ¾ cup confectioners’ sugar
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ cups finely ground almonds (you can find these at the store, no need to grind them yourself)
- 4 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups sifted, all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup confectioners sugar for rolling
- 3 teaspoons of CBD oil
Start by creaming your butter in a bowl. Gradually add your CBD oil, your confectioners salt and then the confectioners’ sugar. This mixture should become light and fluffy looking after beating for a bit. Once it looks fluffy, start blending in the flour gradually. We recommend using an automated whisk as the lack of liquid will make it difficult otherwise. Add the almonds and vanilla into the mixture, if you’d like to add more presence to the almond aspect of the cookie, we recommend adding a bit of almond extract (around 4 teaspoons) to the mixture at this point. Next, scoop about one teaspoon of dough and form into a ball that you then place on the cooking tray.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F and use wax paper for the cookie sheet if you’re concerned about grease. Bake the cookies for around 15-20 minutes, but do not brown them as they’ll quickly go from a wafer-like consistency to a rather pronounced crunch that doesn’t pair well with their subtle flavors. Cool slightly after they’ve baked and then roll them in confectioners sugar.
The best part is that you can add cinnamon to make them into Mexican wedding cookies or use finely chopped walnuts or pecans to turn them into Russian tea cakes instead.
BLT Dip With CBD
Getting ready to host a party full of CBD lovers or just need a little snack rather than lunch throughout a busy day to keep you going? This BLT dip is the perfect way to get your dosage of CBD oil in while also enjoying some crostini bread. It’s also a great way to introduce your friends to the benefits of CBD oil while still exploring how many options you have for clever CBD recipes.
- 1 pound of low-fat, low-sodium bacon
- 1 cup sour cream (low-fat if you’re looking to cut back)
- 1 cup mayonnaise (low-fat optional)
- 1 tomato, peeled, seeded, diced
- 1 teaspoon of CBD oil (more if you plan on eating the mixture over several days or serving more people)
- 1 tablespoon of basil (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of parsley (optional)
- Crostini bread to serve on
Start by cutting the bacon into small cubes. Cook the cubes in a large, deep skillet on medium-high heat until evenly browned. Drain on paper towels, and be sure not to let the leftover grease go down the drain as it’ll clog your pipes. Pour the extra grease into an old can or bottle, wait for it to cool and then trash it. While it cooks, combine your mayonnaise, parsley, basil, sour cream and CBD oil in a medium-sized bowl. Whisk by hand for even distribution of ingredients. Crumble the bacon pieces into the mixture and let chill in the fridge for an hour. Stir in tomatoes right before serving.
If you’re looking for a bit of crunch, or a spin on the recipe entirely, consider putting crumbled tortilla strips in the mixture and 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese. You can even try a variation of the recipe with the cheddar cheese that includes 8 ounces of cream cheese whisked into the mixture and then baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for around 20 minutes. This will bring out all of the savory flavors and make this a real winter hibernation sort of appetizer or meal substitute.
